What is KVM remote maintenance?

Our KVM over IP feature gives you permanent administrative access down to the BIOS level of your server.
The KVM is connected to the server’s VGA, keyboard, and mouse interfaces in the data center and is operated by the customer via a Java applet accessed through a web browser. It is particularly useful when SSH cannot be used, for example, to change BIOS settings, navigate boot menus (grub, LILO, etc.), or troubleshoot errors in the packet filter or network configuration.

In addition to an administration interface that can be called up via a browser, our KVMs offer numerous other features such as the inclusion of installation images or the shutdown/startup of the server.

KVM Services
hosttech offers the following types of KVM remote maintenance:

– KVM card ( permanently installed)
If you want permanent access to your server via KVM-over-IP, you can have a dedicated, permanently installed KVM card installed in your server. This allows you to remotely control your server via KVM at any time.

A KVM card can only be optionally added to the business servers.

– IPMI ( KVM access)
Our GiantXX and DualMaster business server plans support access via IPMI. This allows you to remotely control your server at any time via KVM access.

– KVM flex
If you only need your own KVM for a short period of time, you can book it from us on a daily basis.
This allows you to remotely control your server at the time of your choosing and keep costs to a minimum.
Please note that the number of available KVMs in the data center is limited. Therefore, be sure to book your KVM in advance through your customer portal.
