Plesk Site Importer and Mail Importer

Important preparations:

  • Plesk hosting is available/has been ordered.
  • The domain(s) is/are installed on the new Plesk hosting. For more information, click here.
  • Email accounts, including passwords, are available
  • FTP login credentials from the old hosting provider are available
  • You have access to DNS records. For more informations, click here.
  • If you are migrating a database, you will need the database name, database username, and password.

Mail Importer Tool von Plesk

  1. Log in to your Plesk Control Panel.
  2. Go to “Website & Domains,” select “Email,” and then “Email Import.”

  1. Select “Import email messages”
  2. In the “Email Address” or ‘Username’ (Source) field, you must enter the “old” username.
  3. Under “Import to,” select “Create a new mailbox.” Additional fields will appear.
  4. For the email address (recipient), enter only the email address (without the domain), and please enter the corresponding password twice.
  5. Click OK to confirm, and your mailbox will be migrated. Repeat this for additional mailboxes.
Add an email address for the import. Enter all the required information.

You can then synchronize the mailbox as needed, as long as the A record does not point to the new hosting server. To do this, simply go to Email > Email Import and select “Resynchronize” for each mailbox.

Site-Importer Tool von Plesk

  1. Log in to your Plesk Control Panel.
  2. Go to “Files” and make sure the “httpdocs” folder is empty. If it contains any folders or files, please delete them before continuing.
  3. Go back to “Website & Domains” and click “Website Import” under “Dashboard.”
Select Dashboard > Website - Import
  1. Check that the source domain name is correct.
  2. Under “Hosting Access,” enter the FTP username for the old server and the corresponding password. Then click OK.
Import content. Enter the specified data here.
  1. Now you need to select the folder you want to import—that is, the folder containing your current web data.

  1. Log in to your Plesk Control Panel.
  2. Go to “Files” and make sure the “httpdocs” folder is empty. If it contains any folders or files, please delete them before continuing.
  3. Go back to “Website & Domains” and click “Website Import” under “Dashboard.”
  4. Check that the source domain name is correct.
  5. Under “Hosting Access,” enter the FTP username for the old server and the corresponding password. Then click OK.
  6. Now select “Add database for import” under Databases.

  1. Enter the database details. The host for the source database is always localhost and the port is always 3306. Do not change these values.

The database will be synchronized and will then appear under “Databases” on the left.

Abschlussarbeiten

Once all data has been migrated, you can now update the DNS records. To do this, set the A records for yourdomain.eu and *.yourdomain.eu to point to the new hosting provider.

Resync your emails as described in the email migration section. Please note that your email settings have now changed and that the settings listed in the access data sheet now apply.
